About
Focused on Fire Code matters
FIRECODE.HELP exists for one narrow problem: Ontario Fire Code enforcement against property owners, landlords, condominium corporations, and businesses. That focus means less time spent learning the terrain and more spent on the specifics of your file.
What to expect
- 01
First conversation
We go through the charge, the notice or order, and the deadline you are facing, so you know where you stand before deciding anything.
- 02
Documents and disclosure
Inspector notes, photographs, service records, and prior orders are gathered and reviewed against what the charge actually alleges.
- 03
Correction and position
Where a condition still exists, correcting and documenting it early strengthens every discussion that follows.
- 04
Resolution or hearing
Discussions with the prosecutor, a negotiated resolution, or a defended hearing — whichever route best fits your facts and priorities.
Why these charges are not minor
Financial exposure
Fire Code counts can carry substantial fines, and multiple counts on a single notice can compound quickly.
Compliance obligations
Orders often require specific work within a fixed window, sometimes while a matter is still before the court.
Operational disruption
Restricted occupancy, closed areas, or halted work can affect tenants, staff, and revenue.
Escalating enforcement
Unaddressed orders and repeat allegations tend to attract closer attention, not less.
Lawyer or licensed paralegal?
In Ontario, lawyers and licensed paralegals are both regulated by the Law Society of Ontario. Licensed paralegals may represent clients in defined areas, which include provincial offence matters of the kind Fire Code prosecutions fall under. When you are deciding who should act, the practical questions are whether your representative is licensed to act on your type of matter, how familiar they are with the process, and how thoroughly they prepare the evidence.
We are happy to confirm the scope of representation for your specific matter on the first call, and to say plainly if something falls outside it.
